I hope this email finds you and your family well. I am writing to update you on recent activities within our school community and to inform you of important upcoming events.
Christmas Spirit Day and Christmas Market
Our Christmas Market and Christmas Spirit Day took place on Friday, 5 December. I would like to sincerely thank our 6th Year students for the wonderful effort they put into their costumes and for fully embracing the festive spirit. The day was filled with fun, school spirit, and Christmas cheer.
Christmas Carol Service
Our Annual Christmas Carol Service took place last Tuesday evening and was a very special occasion. The 6th Year Choir and the Barbershop Choir gave truly outstanding performances. I would like to thank all participating students for their dedication and hard work.
Christmas Charity Fundraiser
Each Christmas, St. Aloysius’ College supports those in need through a series of charity activities and fundraising efforts for worthy causes at home and abroad.
This year, we are fundraising for the following:

The work of the S.M.G. Order in Kitui, East Kenya, where the Sisters provide essential support in the form of food, housing, healthcare, and education.

St. Vincent de Paul, Carrigtwohill

Bumbleance Children’s Ambulance Service

Christmas Holidays & Part Time Jobs

6th Years will finish for the Christmas holidays on Thursday, 18 December.

We strongly encourage students to create a study plan for the break. Establishing a consistent revision routine will help prevent unnecessary pressure and stress in the lead-up to the Pre-Examinations, which begin on 30 January.

We also strongly advise students not to take on part-time work for the remainder of the school year. It is extremely difficult to manage part-time employment while preparing effectively for exams.
Upcoming Events

Careers Talks: Presentations from various colleges and faculties will continue every Monday during Careers. These talks provide valuable insights into the wide range of opportunities available to students.

Wellbeing Talk: Fiona Forman - wellbeing educator, author, and speaker known for her practical, evidence-informed approach to positive psychology will present to all 6th Year students on Wednesday, 14 January from 9:25 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Her work centres on fostering positivity, resilience, and mental health in school life.

School Photographer: David Keane, our school photographer, will be onsite on Wednesday, 7 January to take the full 6th Year group photo for the Yearbook, extra-curricular group pictures, and individual photographs for any students who missed their session in August.
Assembly
Assembly will continue to take place every Monday morning in Glenmary Hall at 8:35 a.m. sharp. Attendance is compulsory, and important information is shared with students each week. Ms. Holland and I meet the students to reinforce wellbeing, promote effective study techniques and study habits, and encourage them to develop a healthy balance between academic study and personal development.
It is an absolute pleasure working with this group of 6th Year students. They are courteous, polite, hardworking and a joy to support. As a year group, they have tremendous potential, and I have no doubt they have bright and successful futures ahead.
