Dear Parents & Guardians,
We hope all is well as our 3rd & 6th year students continue to prepare for the State Examinations next week.
State Examinations 2026:
Examinations begin on the morning of Wednesday June 3rd. Timetables have already been shared with students and yourselves.
Please find linked here the SEC suite of information and supports for your daughter in advance of the State Examinations. This suite includes:
- Information on the Junior Cycle and Leaving Certificate Examinations
- Supports available for students
- Deferred Leaving Certificate examinations
- Timetable and coursework
- Assessment Arrangements for State Examinations 2026
We ask that students familiarise and thoroughly check exam days and times and arrive at their exam centre 20 minutes before each examination commences for each of their exams. Please check timetables regularly.
Mr Seán Driscoll will coordinate State Examinations at the school across June and Ms. Holland, Ms. Harrington or Mr. Twomey will also be available daily across this period.
On the first morning, Wednesday June 3rd, all exam students need to be seated in their exam centre at least 30 minutes before the first examination as attendants will need to go through procedures for State Examinations with each candidate. We recommend being in school for 8.45 am on the first morning and at least 30 minutes before each examination session starts thereafter.
Full school uniform is obligatory at all times in school during the State Examinations. We ask that parents please check uniforms each morning at home as students do not need to be involved in awkward conversations about their uniforms during examinations. We thank you for the support with this aspect of exam protocols.
We ask students to please empty books and materials from lockers as soon as possible this week as they will be needed at home during the exams. School closes for students this Friday at midday. Please leave lockers open and locks on outside of lockers when emptied. The Lost and Found box at school is currently overflowing with items so if you find that your daughter is missing any item, please ask her to check.

- To ensure that the remaining stages of the appeals process can be completed as quickly as possible, the deadlines will be strictly applied. Candidates should take note of these dates.
- The SEC will not accept late applications for viewing or for appeals.
The upcoming Bank Holiday weekend, just before the exams begin, can be a time of pressure for students. We strongly recommend maintaining a routine and providing a supportive structure at home to ensure they get adequate rest. Your support during these days will make a significant positive difference.
Should any unexpected emergency arise during State Examinations, please contact our Senior School Deputy - Ms. Holland at s.holland@saintals.ie
We wish all our students, at Junior and Leaving Cert, the very best next week for their exams.
Ms Holland, Ms Harrington & Mr. Twomey
