Dear Parents/Guardians,
I hope this email finds you and your family well. I would like to wish you a very happy New Year and every good wish for 2026.
I am writing to outline a number of important upcoming events and reminders for our 6th Year students.
School Photographer
Our school photographer, David Keane, will be on site on Wednesday, 7 January to take the full 6th Year group photograph for the Yearbook, photographs for extra-curricular groups, and individual photographs for any students who were absent for their session in August.
Wellbeing Talk
On Wednesday, 14 January, from 9:25 a.m. to 10:45 a.m., Fiona Forman - wellbeing educator, author, and speaker, will deliver a talk to all 6th Year students. Fiona is widely recognised for her practical, evidence-informed approach to positive psychology, with a particular focus on building resilience, promoting positivity, and supporting students’ mental wellbeing.
Online Parent Support Meeting
An online parent support meeting will take place on Monday, 19 January. This meeting will outline key deadlines for the remainder of the school year and provide guidance on preparing for the Pre-Examinations and the oral examinations.
Assembly
Assembly will continue to take place every Monday morning at 8:35 a.m. sharp in Glenmary Hall. Attendance is compulsory, and important information is shared weekly. Ms. Holland and I meet with students at assembly to reinforce wellbeing, promote effective study strategies, and encourage a healthy balance between academic study and personal development.
Preparation for PRE Exams
This is a short but very important term for 6th Year students. It is essential that students return with a positive mindset, re-establish strong study routines, and put clear revision plans in place at the beginning of each week. Exam Subject Timetables will be provided to students within 2 weeks prior to the start of their exams and work is underway currently on them.
However, with just under four weeks remaining until the Pre-Examinations, which will commence on 30th of January, this period offers a valuable opportunity for students to make meaningful progress. Early revision and careful planning can help students remain focused, calm, and in control, while also supporting effective time management.
We strongly advise that students do not continue with any part-time employment for the remainder of the school year, as balancing work commitments alongside effective exam preparation can be extremely challenging.
Please do not hesitate to contact me at a.brosnan@saintals.ie if I can support your daughter in any way.
Warm regards,
Ms. Aileen Brosnan
6th Year Head
