Dear Parents/Guardians,
We hope all is well as our 3rd year students continue to prepare for the State Examinations next week.
As 3rd Year comes to a close and the students approach their Junior Cycle State Examinations, I am writing to thank you for your support throughout the last three years. They have been an excellent group; well behaved, polite and very hard working particularly over the last few months. I wish them well in their upcoming exams.
Please note 3rd Years will finish classes for the year on Friday 22nd May at 3:35pm. As a thank you to our students for their excellent cooperation this year, we will organise a ceremony in the quad for the students in the Quad with addresses from our School Chaplain, Ms. McCarthy, Year Head and Junior School Deputy Principal. This will be followed by a farewell party for the students.
Lockers:

Students must ensure all their textbooks and equipment are removed from their lockers before leaving school for the final day on Friday 22nd May.

Their base classrooms will act as Exam Centres for the duration of the State Exams so they will be unable to access their lockers after Friday 22nd May.
Book Scheme Returns:
Students must return their schoolbooks to Ms. Fernandez in the Hall between 8:30am - 9:15am & 11:30–12:00 on the following dates during the State Exams.

Friday 5th June: CSPE textbook, English books (2 novels and 1 play), Religion textbook,Irish textbook and novel, Geography textbook,Maths books.

Wednesday 10th June: Home Economics books

Thursday 11th June: German textbook

Friday 12th June: Music textbook
We would greatly appreciate your support in helping students return these books on the correct dates. We will also let your daughters know through Google Classroom about the times and process for returning these textbooks.
Your daughter’s Senior Cycle books will be provided under the School Book Scheme. If there are any additional books your daughter may need in Transition Year, the school booklists for each year group will be published on our website. The Senior Cycle booklists will clearly indicate which books need to be collected from our partnered bookshop and which books will be provided in school. We will let you know once the 2026/2027 booklists and bookshop information are available on the school website.
Examinations begin on the morning of Wednesday 3rd of June. Timetables have already been shared with students and yourselves. We ask that students familiarise and thoroughly check exam days and times and arrive on time for each of their exams. Timetables may be found on HERE
Students may leave the school after each exam at 11.30am and it is their responsibility to return to school for their afternoon exam at 1.30pm. All classrooms are in use during the state exams and so should a student wish to study in advance of their afternoon exam, they may do so in the quad.
Mr Seán Driscoll will coordinate State Examinations at the school across June and Ms. Harrington and Mr Twomey will also be available to 3rd Years across this period.
On the first morning, Wednesday June 3rd, students are required to be in their exam centre at least 30 minutes before the first examination as attendants will need to go through procedures for State Examinations with each candidate.
We recommend students are in school at least 40 minutes before each examination session thereafter and encourage students to stay in the exam hall until the end and use all of the time available to them.
Students in receipt of a Laptop or Reading Pen must present to the AEN office each morning of their exams where one of our SNA’s will provide them with their laptop/reading pen for the day. Students must return their devices after each exam.
Full school uniform is obligatory at all times in school during the State Examinations. We ask that parents please check uniforms each morning at home as students do not need to be involved in awkward conversations about their uniforms during examinations. We thank you for the support with this aspect of exam protocols.
Wishing our students all the best in their final preparations. We look forward to watching them continue to mature, develop and reach their potential in Transition Year.
