The HSE is offering young people another chance to protect themselves from HPV by receiving the HPV vaccine if they were not vaccinated when they were offered it when they were in 1st year.
Who is being offered this vaccine?
The HPV (Human Papillomavirus) catch-up vaccination is being offered to all pupils who are currently in 5th and 6th year who have not previously received the HPV vaccine.
Other year groups will be eligible in subsequent years.
How many doses of HPV vaccine are needed?
Most students only need to receive one dose of HPV vaccine (if someone has a weak immune system they will need 3 doses). Please visit www.hpv.ie for more information.
“HSE information is being given to those in 5th and 6th year to inform you about the HPV Vaccination Catch-Up Programme. If your child is eligible for a catch-up vaccination and you want to avail of the offer, please complete the consent form and return to school. For more information you can visit www.hpv.ie”
