Dear Parents/Guardians,
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, I would like to sincerely thank you for your continued support over the past two years. It has been greatly appreciated by staff and has played an important role in supporting our students throughout their time at St Aloysius' College.
For our 6th year students, these are their final weeks at St Al’s, and it is vital that they are used well. School must remain the clear priority at this time, and I would strongly encourage full attendance. I would also ask that students do not take “study days” at home.
While students may feel they work better independently, their teachers have extensive experience in preparing students for the Leaving Certificate and know exactly what is needed at this stage. Trusting that guidance is essential in the final weeks.
In class, teachers are focused on completing courses, revising key areas, and most importantly, developing exam technique through regular exam paper practice. This is critical for success - students must not only know the material, but also understand how to apply it effectively, how marks are awarded, and how to respond to exam questions.
For this reason, full attendance and active engagement in class are essential. I would also strongly encourage students to prioritise their studies over part-time work and social activities for this short period. There will be ample time for both over the summer.
CAO Change of Mind
The CAO Change of Mind facility opens on May 5th at 12 pm until Wednesday, July 1st at 5.00pm. Students should not leave changes until the last minute and should ensure courses are listed in genuine order of preference. Both Level 8 and Level 7 lists should be completed (up to 10 choices each). If there are any concerns or uncertainties, students are strongly encouraged to speak with Ms. Mannion or Ms. Manley in the Guidance Department
House Day takes place on Friday, May 15th. This is a key school celebration and we are encouraging our sixth years to take part fully and make it a memorable day.
Graduation
The Graduation Ceremony will take place in Glenmary Hall on Tuesday, May 19th. Gowns will be available for collection from 11.30am, with students gathering in the Quad at 12.30pm. The ceremony begins at 1.00pm (doors open to parents at 12.45pm) and will be followed by refreshments in the Quad at 3pm. We very much look forward to celebrating this special occasion with you and your daughters.
It has been a privilege to work with this year group over the past two years. They have bright futures ahead, and I wish them every success in their upcoming exams and beyond.
